Italian art academy ABA, Catanzaro, has launched Performing Festival, a series of event with a focus on performance, approached from diverse perspectives. For the section dedicated to performance within photography, specifically cameraless practices, they invited curator Luca Panaro and artist Fabio Sandri. SWIT has bridge the two academies, connecting students and teachers, mediating, and translating when needed.
Three students from Gothenburg were selected to take part in a 3-day workshop led by artist Fabio Sandri to create large-scale cameraless prints in the darkroom. They have also learnt about cameraless practices within Italian photo history during a lecture by Luca Panaro. The HDK-Valand students where accompained by teacher Hendrik Zeitler. Italian professor Simone Bergantini followed us and accompanied us through the whole project.
The continuation of this exchange happened in September, when the italian group came to Gothenburg.
