Matilde Søes Rasmussen

(Silkeborg, DK, 1990) is an artist and writer. She holds a BA in Photography from Valand Academy, Gothenburg. In 2021 she released her debut book ‘Unprofessional’ which was shortlisted for the Photo-Text Book Award at the Recontres D’Arles. Her practice moves freely among photography, video and writing.

For more than a decade, Rasmussen has documented her career as a fashion model with a camera and a pen in her hand, exploring power structures among the model, the photographer and the public. In her practice, she critically engages in topics related to the body and its relation to being sold – the systems of exchange in capitalism. In its essence, modelling is an exchange of body for money.
