Andrea Elia Zanini (b. 1997, Rome. He/him) was invited through an open call to spend a two-week research-based residecy in Gothenburg. He had access to the facilities at Göteborgs Bildverkstad, was given an apartment and the travels were covered.
During this residency, he explored the current landscape of Swedish photography by meeting local artists. He wanted to learn about their practices, understand different approaches, and identify points of contact, divergences, and potential synergies with contemporary Italian photography.
We supported his research by launching an open call, giving Gothenburg-based artists the opportunity to present their work to an international curator and expand their network. In the images, some of the artists he met.
