Open Call: itinerant photobooks exhibition

A collaboration with Gothenburg-based nomadic library Take 10 Press.

This is an open call for photo-based publications by ITALY-BASED artists for an itinerant exhibition in 2026.

DEADLINE: February 5, 2026 at 23:59

SWIT Platform is launching an open call to collect photo-based publications from Italy-based artists. Take 10 Press will review the submissions and select a group of publications to enter in dialogue with works from its own library in Sweden.

The outcome of this selection will be an itinerant exhibition that brings the Italian submissions and the Swedish library into conversation. It will be presented first in Sweden and will later travel to Italy, highlighting connections between the two independent publishing communities.

WHO CAN APPLY

Artists based in Italy, regardless of nationality. Each applicant can participate with only 1 publication.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • We accept only self-published publications.
  • Photography-based publications including collage, found imagery, darkroom experimentations, mixed media, etc. Photobooks, photozines, experimental, DIY, made with a friend(s), etc.
  • Text in any language can be present, but not as the predominant and sole source of information.
WHAT TO EXPECT

By the end of February, the selected participants will be contacted for sending to Gothenburg their publications. The artists are responsible for covering their own shipping costs.

Once selected, the book will become part of Take 10 Press library and it won’t be returned to the artist. This means it can be shown in the future during other public events, exhibition spaces, libraries, and other public spaces. It will be also photographed an uploaded on Take 10 Press website and social media. If your book is already part of Take 10 Press Library, you don’t need to apply to this open call.

The participation in this open call is free of charge.

THE EXHIBITIONS

The first exhibition will open on March 20, 2026 at Lagerhusets Bibliotek, public library in central Gothenburg. It will travel to Italy in the autumn. Locations and dates to be announced soon!

ABOUT TAKE 10 PRESS

Take 10 Press is an artist-founded nomadic library based in Göteborg, Sweden. The main interest of this project is for image-based publications (with a focus on photographic practices), as to explore and acknowledge the non-text based ways of reading and meaning-making.

Take 10 Press aims to organize a concentrated hub that celebrates and promotes printed matter, focusing on publications that would otherwise be unable to circulate within the mainstream bookselling circuit. Recognizing the profound significance of artist books, the goal is to increase the visibility of those working with the medium. Take 10 Press hosts events around Göteborg but it is also open to international collaborations.
